Struzan Retiring?

It's late and I hardly update my xanga anymore. Ever since I have decided that I was transferring away from Art school, I had kind of given hope on my dreams to become a comic book artist. Do I still draw? Yeah, I do. Is it still a dream? Yes, it is. I might never make it as a professional, but I can't say I've put the pencil and paper away. As long as those two items are around and my hands are still a part of me, I will never stop.

But, today, I received news from the MSN Group of Travis Charest, stating that Drew Struzan, one the best movie poster illustrators, is retiring. As soon as I read this, chills starting running down my back, and I get this feeling of loneliness, like a part of me is stripped away. I've looked up to this guy for many years, staying up late and studying his drawings, buying his books, and CD, watching and looking at them countless number of times, trying to learn techniques and so. But I have come to realize that in the movie industry, most of the poster work is done with computers and no longer done buy hand.

"Having been working at not working has produced a guy who could never return to illustration again. It took a lot to attempt the idea of retiring from my 40 years of effort and sacrifice but now that I have, I am delighting in life as never before. I had forgotten how to rest, to smell the proverbial roses and to see the future as opportunity. I am grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to do all the work I did. I am well pleased to have been able to give a gift of beauty and peace through my artwork to so many throughout the world. Now I have laid down the burden and have peace and happiness as the reward for my day's labor."

Perhaps I'm overreacting to this news. I meant, he has worked very hard throughout his career and he does deserve to take it easy from now on.

I Am Gundam!

A hilarious trailer to the Gundam 00 (season 2) series.

"Toh!"

Joker Scar Story

In the movie of The Dark Knight, we get stories from the Joker as to how he got the grinning scars across his face, which none are credible because he's a schizophrenic. Here's one of the stories he tells about his origin.

"Why So Serious?"

Iron Man

There will be early/ special screening of the movie tonight, otherwise the movie will be out in theatres tomorrow. I was checking out some of the movie clips and came upon this one. It's pretty cool see how the suit is actually assembled. Reminds me of the Star Craft II trailer with the marine.

Assembling of the Mk. III

Production of  a Terran Marine.

I can't wait to see it, for I have heard great reviews on this movie.
